A dental emergency is any situation involving your teeth or gums that requires immediate attention from a dentist. These situations often involve severe pain, uncontrolled bleeding, or trauma that could lead to permanent damage if not treated promptly. Common Dental Emergencies We Address

Severe Toothache
A persistent, throbbing pain that does not subside with over-the-counter pain relievers often indicates an underlying infection or another serious problem requiring immediate attention.
Chipped or Broken Tooth
Depending on the extent of the damage, a chipped or broken tooth can expose sensitive nerves, cause significant pain, and lead to further complications if not treated promptly.
Knocked-Out (Avulsed) Tooth
This is a critical emergency where time is of the essence. Quick action can sometimes allow us to save the tooth, making immediate contact with our office crucial.
Lost Filling or Crown
While not always painful, a lost filling or crown leaves the tooth vulnerable to sensitivity, further damage, and potential infection, necessitating prompt repair.
Dental Abscess
A painful, pus-filled swelling near a tooth or on the gums signals a serious infection. This condition requires immediate professional treatment to prevent the spread of infection.

What to Do Before Your Appointment
Taking immediate steps can help manage your pain and protect your teeth until you can reach our office. Follow these guidelines for common emergencies:
For a Knocked-Out Tooth
Gently pick up the tooth by the crown, avoiding the root. If possible, try to reinsert it into its socket. If not, place it in a small container of milk or a tooth-saving solution and bring it with you to our clinic right away.
For a Severe Toothache
Rinse your mouth thoroughly with warm water. Gently floss around the affected tooth to remove any lodged food particles that might be contributing to the pain. Avoid placing aspirin directly on the gum or tooth, as this can cause tissue burns.
For a Chipped or Broken Tooth
Rinse your mouth with warm water to clean the area and remove any debris. If there is bleeding, apply a piece of clean gauze to the area for about 10 minutes. A cold compress applied to the outside of your face can help reduce any swelling.
For a Lost Filling or Crown
If you have the crown, you can try to temporarily re-seat it using a small amount of dental adhesive, toothpaste, or even sugar-free chewing gum. This can help protect the exposed tooth from sensitivity and further damage until your appointment.
For a Dental Abscess
Rinse your mouth with a mild salt water solution several times a day. This can help to draw the pus to the surface and provide some temporary relief from the discomfort. Do not attempt to drain the abscess yourself.
